Ceiling Fixers Are The Most Important Component Of Any Suspended Ceilings Company

Ceiling fixers are the most important component of any suspended ceilings company and in my opinion should be treat accordingly and paid top rates, I have been in the ceiling industry for many years so speak from vast experience having worked on every kind of suspended ceiling from lay in grin to the most complex of clip in systems such as Burgess and SAS metal ceiling tiles.

The one thing I have found (with only a very few exceptions) about ceiling fixers is the amount of work they can do in very short time scales, once they have all the relevant information such as ceiling grid and tile specification, lines and levels along with the latest revision drawings then ceiling fixers will set their stall out to do the maximum amount of square meters in a day as it is possible to achieve with the areas clear and good scaffold.

Ceiling fixers work on an agreed amount per m2 in more or less most situations, however there are occasions when a day work rate has to be agreed, this usually applies when snagging, if the degree of difficulty is such that price work is rendered impossible or in some cases if the ceiling fixers are in attendance to other trades such as mechanical and or electrical, attendance is usually for balancing of heating ducting or for electrical contractors to gain access above ceiling height to the void to install extra works or in some cases repair, replacement or renewal of electrical equipment.

It’s been my experience that ceiling fixers are the hardest working on any building or construction site and this is because they are on price and not paid by hourly rates, I’m sure that the vast majority of ceiling fixers would not have it any other way and dread the sites that are so badly organised they end up being paid by the hour on daywork rates.

Most ceiling fixers are multi disciplined and switch between drywall, plasterboard partitions, demountable partition work, fire protection, insulation, dry lining and special features installations as a matter of course, such is the nature of your average ceiling fixers.
